Field trip to the theater

We met in the classroom at 9:15 a.m. and then set off. We took the underground and the S-Bahn to the “Akademie der Künste” at Bellevue S-Bahn station. We went inside and waited on a blue carpet. Mr. Birkeneder told us to wait quietly and that it would start soon. There was a large crowd of 400 students and teachers. We chose seats right in the front and sat down. We enjoyed the English-language play “A Christmas Carol” by Charles Dickens. The lights went out, and everyone became quiet. The play was about an old man named Scrooge, a mean, bad tempered man who strikes fear and discomfort in the hearts of all he meets. Three ghosts visited him in the night. First, the Ghost of Christmas Past who showed Scrooge’s earlier life. Then came the Ghost of Christmas Present, showing how poor his employee Cratchit and his family were. Lastly, the Ghost of the Future showed him his miserable death. In the end, everything turned out well, and Scrooge was no longer the miser he used to be. The play ended at 11:30 a.m., and everyone left the theater. We met outside with Mr. Birkeneder, and he checked if everyone was there. After that, we went home. The “American Drama Group Europe” performed exceptionally well.

On the 14th of December 2023 the English E-Course of year 8 was in a theater. We watched the stage play “A Christmas Carol” by Charles Dickens. It was a nice Christmas atmosphere and also very entertaining.
